Please Note: The New Jersey Real estate commission requires all licensees to complete twelve (12) hours of continuing education, for each licensing cycle. Six credit hours must be in core topics, which must include, at least two credit hours of ethics. The remaining six credit hours can be in either core or elective topics. All continuing education must be completed before April 30, 2023, to avoid late renewal fines.

SESSION I     DATE: January 18, 2023 - Mandatory Class for All

ETHICS AND FAIR HOUSING IN NEW JERSEY REAL ESTATE PRACTICE 

ETHICS IN NEW JERSEY REAL ESTATE PRACTICE, II, C20203423: is a two (2) credit hour ethics course that satisfies the ethics component, for NJ REC license renewal. The course covers ethics in the areas of fair housing and a licensee’s relationship with clients and principals, customers, other agents and firms and the general public and advertising rules. It merges general ethical concepts pertaining to real estate with the concepts detailed in the Realtor’s Code of Ethics.

NJ FAIR HOUSING, AN OVERVIEW., C20203245: is a one (1) credit hour course that satisfies the one credit hour Fair Housing requirement for license renewal. This course provides an overview of the various laws impacting fair housing that licensees need to know to stay compliant.

SESSION II    DATE: January 25, 2023

OWNERSHIP REPRESENTATION, C20200546: is a three (3) credit hour core course. It covers what you need to know when representing ownership in a sales, leasing or property management agency relationship. It reviews the types of ownership structures, property evaluation, building systems, environmental concerns, market evaluation, reconciling ownership’s goals with the marketplace, strategies in repositioning the property, formulating the leasing and management plan, operating the property, collecting rents and financial responsibilities of the licensee.


SESSION III    DATE: February 1, 2023

NJ PROPERTY MANAGEMENT, AN OVERVIEW, C20202532: is a three (3) credit hour elective course that provides an overview of the property management field. It is a good course for licensees interested in this field of real estate or who want to learn more about it. It covers the agency relationship, regulatory requirements, various ownership structures of clients, the management agreement, the manager’s duties, tenant application and screening process, section 8 tenants, entering into leases, ownership reporting, tenant move in and move out, tenant management, repair requests, emergencies, and risk factors to consider. It covers how a property management firm is organized, and the team required, to manage it effectively and market the firm’s services.

SESSION IV    DATE: February 8, 2023

COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE, AN OVERVIEW, C20161192: is a three (3) credit hour elective course that provides an overview of commercial real estate brokerage. It reviews the different asset classes: Office, Industrial, Retail and Specialty properties. It reviews what is important in evaluating each property types; we review the type of landlords/owners, the type of tenants and the needs of user buyers, in this area of real estate. We review the different leasing structures, common lease provisions and examine what tenants and user owners are looking for in the commercial real estate they lease or purchase. We review the financing parameters for owner/user properties and investment properties and end with investment property sales.
